In our society, we know each other less and less, often only on a digital level. Most of our social contacts initially depend on superficialities, which we — usually deliberately — reinforce there, while ignoring, suppressing, or concealing less desirable aspects.

Available data thus gets shaped in a way that typically creates a distorted or diffuse picture of our counterpart.

From experience, this isn't tragic — true character and essence reveal themselves soon enough — but it costs time better invested elsewhere.

I place great value on handling time, for in the end, it's all we have, yet we still believe we dispose freely over it; as our alliance will show, that's incorrect.
